Icelandic, Chinese and Slovenian Music at the Embassy of Iceland
The Icelandic-Slovenian violinist Rannveig Marta Sarc performed a selection of Icelandic, Chinese and Slovenian music citations at a well-attended concert at the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing. She was accompanied by the internationally acclaimed pianist Claudia Yang.
The event was co-hosted by the Embassy of Iceland and the Embassy of Slovenia.
Rannveig Marta Sarc, a graduate of the Juilliard School, has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia. She has been a soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra, Bacau “Mihal Jora” Orchestra in Italy, Iceland Youth Symphony (Ungfónía) and Orchestra Matutina, among others.
As a chamber musician she has appeared at festivals in Ravinia, Festival Mozaic, Prussia Cove, NEXUS- Chamber Music Chicago, Taos, and Kneisel Hall. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the 2022 Luminarts Strings Fellowship, first prize of the 2021 Musicians Club of Women Scholarship Award, American Scandinavian Society Cultural Grant and was voted “Newcomer of the year” at the 2022 Icelandic Music Awards.
Claudia Yang has performed with leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra, Lithuania National Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, appearing in major concert halls across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Her achievements have been recognized with numerous international honors, including the “Pro Cultura Hungarica Award” from the Hungarian government for her outstanding contributions to the global promotion of Franz Liszt and the International Culture Engagement Special Award at the “Austrian Music Theatre Prize “.
